Calorie Burning Activity For The Home

Feeling stuck at home and unable to get out to the gym? Don't worry: There are still lots of ways to get your exercise right around the house and burn some calories.

You won't even really be exercising - you will just be going about normal duties and doing normal chores. The only difference is you can burn calories at the same time!

Do you crave a little sunshine in your day? Then go burn some calories by caring for the lawn. Mowing the grass, pulling weeds, tending the garden are all great ways to get out in the sun and move around, thus burning calories at the same time.

If it's too rainy outside for cutting the grass, then let's go back inside and take a look at your closets and drawers. Spend a day organizing these. Simply place all the clothes you never wear in boxes and bags and then carry them to the Salvation Army or some other place that needs them. In this case you're killing, not two birds with one stone, but three: You're helping the needy, getting rid of some of the clutter in your home, and getting a little exercise in the process.

In fact, while you're decluttering, consider organizing a large rummage sale. Again, get a lot of boxes and bags and go through your home, finding those things that you once thought were necessary, but now never use. Price everything, and then post signs around town. This is a way to make a few extra dollars as you lose a few extra pounds.

If you have children, why not take them to the park and join in the fun. You can run around with them going from activity to activity. Play on the swings and kick your legs, climb up the slide and come back down again. Not only is taking your children to the park a fun thing for all of you it is also a great calorie burning activity.

If you don't have children but you have a dog, then get out the leash and take the dog to the park instead. Take a ball to throw, which is great for the arms, and run around with your dog. Your dog will love the attention and the exercise and you are taking part in a great calorie burning activity.

Meanwhile, back in the house, some people burn calories just by redecorating a room or rooms in the home. Redecorating involves a lot of lifting moving round furniture, as well as sweeping and dusting and nailing things to the wall. And let's not forget painting. Using those rollers not only burns calories, but builds muscle as well!

Now it's up to you. Use your imagination, and I'm sure you can find dozens of things that need to be done in your home that will help you get a little exercise in the process. What better way to burn calories than by doing something that needed to be done any way?
